Dr Phil Yeung has been a practicing ENT consultant surgeon since 2005. He looks after a broad range of adult and paediatric ENT problems. Common issues include nasal obstruction, sinus disease, severe allergic rhinitis, paediatric middle ear disease, adult chronic ear issues, balance disorders, paediatric and adult sleep apnoea, general laryngeal/voice disorders, and cancer diagnosis.
He consults in Broadway main rooms plus a couple of satellite locations, and operates at a number of private and public hospitals.
Training
Dr Phil Yeung graduated with Honours from the University of Sydney Medical School in 1992. He worked as a General Surgery Registrar at Prince of Wales Hospital and affiliated hospitals. He began ENT training in 1997 at John Hunter Hospital.
He was accepted into the NSW ENT training scheme commencing College accredited training in 1999, completing his training 2003.
This included 6 months paediatric ENT training at Westmead New Children's Hospital, plus 6 months at Sydney Children's Hospital in Randwick.
He went overseas for further operative training, spending 3 months in 2004 with Professor D.S. Sethi at Singapore General Hospital. A further 9 month Otology Operative Fellowship at Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham, UK with Professor G. O’Donoghue followed. During this time he also attended surgical workshops in Singapore, the US and France.
Dr Yeung maintains Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities as required by the College of Surgeons and Medical Board. These include local and international Surgical meetings, and ENT Society audit meetings.
Current Work
Dr Yeung has been a consultant ENT surgeon since 2005. He has been continuously on staff at 2 public hospitals ( Bankstown and Liverpool) since 2005, with regular on call commitments to look after ENT emergencies.
He operates regularly at Strathfield Private and Sydney Day Surgery (Newtown), and is available at Westmead Private, Sydney Private ( Ashfield) and Sydney South West (Liverpool) hospitals
Professional Memberships
Dr Yeung is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Otolaryngology, and a member of the specialty professional body ( ASOHNS: Australian Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery)
Continuing Professional Development
Dr Yeung is compliant with the CPD ( Continuing Professional Development ) program of the College of Surgeons.
This involves attendance at ENT departmental meetings to discuss problems and adverse outcomes; attending ENT society meetings where various departments from different Sydney teaching hospitals present their workload and case reviews.
It also requires attendance at ENT conferences and workshops both locally and overseas. Dr Yeung is involved weekly in the training and supervision of ENT registrars.
